After swimming I always work up an appetite. For lunch I had a grilled cheese with tomato on wheat bread with a fruit cup that had honeydew, cantaloupe and pineapple (one if my all time favorite summer treats!).
At work tonight I had my hands full with a bunch of tables. After the rush I was getting pretty hungry, and unfortunately for me someone had left a big pan of brownies in the break room! All I have to say is I was not proud of my self control tonight. When I got home I got to thinking that really since I have been home from school I have not been very good at saying "no!" to sweets, or bad foods. At school this past semester I had been proud of myself for saying no, but now living back at home the temptations lie everywhere!
I got talking to my mom about my trouble with saying no. I have to tell you my mom is one of my best friends! I am so lucky that I can talk to her about anything and she constantly encourages me to pursue my healthy lifestyle. She loves it too because I being it into the house. She asked what she could do to help me stray away from the sweets. I came up with a great idea, I'm sure others have as well, but what you do is get a texting buddy. This means whenever you are thinking about having a sweet or are having a sweet you text your buddy! Chances are if you're going for that second sweet or even first sweet of the day and you have to text your buddy you'll think about it twice! I'll let you know how this goes for me. Let me know if you are going to give this a try too!
Thought to ponder...why do you think God places these different inner struggles in each of us? There's always a reason...
